12-page manuscript purporting to be in the hand of Edgar Allan Poe entitled "Intercollegiate Foot-Ball," a forgery prepared as an April Fool's Day joke for Clifton Waller Barrett and sent to him by "C. August Dupin, 221 B Rue de la Morgue, Paris, Maine," envelope postmarked "Cambridge, Mass." Also included is a "dealer's" quatoation sheet describing the manuscript as "Of the Utmost Rarity."

Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) was an American author, poet, and critic. In 1834 Poe married his cousin Virginia, who was not quite fourteen at the time, and began seriously seeking a means of supporting "his family."
